Is PUBG Mobile really a Chinese game?

With the reports suggesting the potential ban of PUBG Mobile, some people have started raising comments that it's a Korean game and not a Chinese one. This is indeed true for PUBG that is meant for online gamers and is developed and published by PUBG Corporation, which is a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. However, PUBG Mobile was created in a collaboration between PUBG Corporation and Shenzhen-headquartered Tencent Games. It, thus, has some relation with China.

Nevertheless, some industry watchers feel PUBG Mobile's China connection is weak, and Chapple of Sensor Tower says, "I would note that the PUBG IP is owned by PUBG Corp, which is part of Krafton Game Union, a South Korea-based holding company."

PUBG as a game was banned in China back in 2017. Tencent Games, a part of Tencent Holdings, got into an agreement with the game developers to release the game in China, as a mobile version. And thus, started the development of PUBG Mobile as we now know it, which was eventually released globally in 2018.

Qualcomm wants to reclaim the title of fast charging king with the introduction of Quick Charge 5. It’s a massive jump up from QC4, it supports speeds of 100 Watts and more while keeping the battery 10°C cooler and it’s 70% more efficient to boot.

According to Qualcomm tests, a 4,500 mAh battery can be charged from 0% to 50% in just 5 minutes. A full charge of such a battery will take 15 minutes. This is in the case of a dual charging solution, which splits the battery into two 2,250 mAh cells connected in series to increase their voltage. Triple charge is also supported.

QC5 power bricks are required to support output voltages between 3.3 and 20 Volts at minimum, with 3.3 or 5 Amps of current or (for the beefier units) 5+ Amps.

Quick Charge 5 is built on top of USB Power Delivery PPS, but it extends it with backwards compatibility with QC2 and later. It can also work with standard USB PD devices as well as Apple gadgets (iPhone 7 and newer).

Qualcomm claims its system is safer than plain Power Delivery too. It features 8 levels of voltage protection, 3 levels of current protection, 3 levels of thermal protection and 3 timer protections, plus overvoltage protection at 25 V.

Snapdragon 865 and 865+ already support QC5, though that doesn’t mean that current phones will be able to use it (as the chipset needs to be paired with the new SMB chips).

How to enable new Start Menu in Windows 10

Microsoft recently announced a refresh Start Menu for the Windows 10 operating system, which the company is currently testing. Currently, the feature is available to Developers with the Insider Builds but it is only available to a small set of testers, just like most other Windows 10 features in the testing phase. In this guide, we will show you how you can enable the new Start Menu feature on your Windows 10 computer using the ViveTool. To activate hidden features using the ViveTool, you need to configure it with the specific number for the feature. In our case, the number for the new Start Menu is 23615618 2.

 How to enable new Start Menu in Windows 10 

Step 1: Download the ViveTool utility on your computer. 

Step 2: Now extract the downloaded file into a folder. 

Step 3: Open the Command Prompt in the administrator mode. To do so, search for the term “cmd” in the Start Menu, right-click on the Command Prompt and select “Run as administrator.”  

Step 4: In the command prompt, go to the directory location where the extracted ViveTool utility is placed. For example, “C:UsersMobiGyaanDesktopViveTool” 

Step 5: Now, type in the following text and then hit enter key: ViVeTool.exe addconfig 23615618 2 

Step 6: After that is done, restart your computer. When your Windows 10 computer starts, you will notice the new Start Menu.

Government considering a ban on PUBG in India India has drawn up a list of 275 Chinese apps that it will examine for any violation of national security and user privacy, signalling heightened scrutiny and the possibility of more Chinese internet companies being banned in the country, according to people aware of the developments. May 6, 2019 - PUBG Mobile was banned in several cities in India. Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara placed a ban on the highly popular and addictive game. These were followed by the districts of Bhavnagar and Gir Somnath. The Aravalli district administration had also placed a ban on the game for around a month. The list, reviewed by ET, includes gaming app PubG backed by China’s most valuable internet major Tencent, Zili by phonemaker Xiaomi, AliExpress by ecommerce giant Alibaba as well as apps like Resso and ULike from TikTok-owner. 

Wildly popular across India’s hinterland, TikTok had snagged 200 million registered users in the country and had been downloaded 660 million times since its launch two years ago, accounting for 30% of its overall global downloads. For PubG, India is its largest market, according to app intelligence firm Sensor Tower estimates, generating about 175 million installs to date, or 24% of the total downloads. Meanwhile, a government committee set up to examine the data practices of the 59 Chinese banned apps will review the companies’ responses — the deadline for which expires this week — and initiate further action, officials told ET.

Reliance Jio has come up with a new Diwali offer for all its consumers. The company is offering 100 per cent cashback on every recharge of Rs 399. Users that already have an active data pack can also do this recharge for the next cycle.

The Diwali offer will be valid from October 12 to October 18. The company also claims to launch a new range of plans that will be effective from October 19. The offer is only valid for Jio Prime members.


Reliance Jio is also offering eight cashback vouchers of Rs 50 on the MyJio application which will be redeemable after November 15.
